"You just have to peddle. Don't think about it - just push off, put your feet up, and just go for it. You can do this!" "But mom, I don't know what will happen. I'm nervous." "You don't have to worry, sweet girl. Mommy's right here." The words rang in my ears - a little differently than I'd said them, but loud and clear I heard, "You don't have to worry, sweet girl, Father God is right here." eAs I've been preparing to launch this site, I've spent countless hours learning new things. How to build a business. How to design a website. How to use different servers and applications. It's been a steep curve that for the most part has been exhilarating!
But today, this final day before I officially 'launch' this blog and site, the exhilaration has waned into something more akin to terror. I don't know what will happen. I'm nervous. This afternoon, I returned to the computer to finish up some work while John took the kids out to play. I hit (yet another) snag, and began to second guess why I was working so hard towards something so vulnerable and risky. Feeling defeated, I put on a pot of coffee and wandered out to the patio where our sweet girl was practicing on her bike. She has the riding part just about mastered - it's the getting started on her own that's giving her trouble. It's just a brief moment --- that moment where she has to take both feet off the ground and just go for it. I know she can. John knows she can. She's second guessing why she's working towards something risky. But she's excited about the possibilities. She's ready to see where she can go once she gets started. And knowing that we are there with her gives her the confidence she needs to keep trying. Any day now I'm certain she'll be cruising around, every fleeting fear far behind her! God so often uses moments with our children to show us His heart. Today was just a brief moment --- that moment where I had to just go for it. I'm grateful we serve a God who invites us to do things that are exciting and full of possibilities. It's freeing to know we can find our confidence in His presence. And that as we set our eyes on Him, we can leave every fleeting fear far behind us.

I love that you've started this site! And I love what you wrote. Way to go taking both feet off the ground and going for it! You are seriously such an inspiration in this way, in so many areas of your life. Love you!

God so often uses the moments with my children to speak directly to me also! My son was just struggling to ride his bike yesterday, and when he kept looking down instead of straight ahead as he would start to wobble (usually falling over in the process), it reminded me that I need to keep my eyes on Jesus instead of looking around at what others have or are doing. My confidence is shaken and I begin to doubt that I truly have anything to offer people when I take my eyes off Him.

Such a good word! Thank you for sharing, Marisa! Isn't it beautiful how God blesses us with children who we have the honor and responsibility of training to follow Him --- and yet He consistently uses them to train us to follow Him, too!

As someone who just started my site this month, this is so encouraging and something I really needed to hear. Just yesterday I was creating a picture for my blog post and thought, why am I doing all of this work, is it even going to matter, is anyone going to actually care? Your post is exactly what I needed today! Riding a bike is the perfect depiction of how God wants us to trust Him with his risky plans. Thank you!
